Lada Nakonechna – Kyiv
”My practice is dedicated to the field of vision. Applying a range of methods and approaches, I reveal manipulative structures of an institutional sphere and its implications in personal perceptions. In the exhibition at Kristianstads konsthall, I am developing an idea of “Images from abroad” – foreign, seemingly unfamiliar, but, at the same time, thanks to their mirroring property, closely related to the common reality as well as history, not so by represented narratives, but mainly by embodied modes of interaction.”
Lada Nakonechna (b. 1981) is an artist whose practice addresses topics of perspective, orientation, institutional authority, and systems of official and alternative education. Using various artistic means such as drawings, photographs, installations, and performances, she challenges singular understandings of her selected subjects and frequently invites the audience to participate in her artworks. She lives and works in Kyiv, Ukraine and is a co-founder of the Method Fund and the artist group R.E.P. as well as a member of the curatorial collective Hudrada. Her work has been exhibited in numerous international and Ukrainian exhibitions, including at the National Art Museum of Ukraine, PinchukArtCentre, Galerie für Zeitgenössische Kunst Leipzig, Museum of Modern Art Warsaw, and Kunsthall Trondheim. She is represented by Galerie EIGEN + ART Leipzig/Berlin.
